Description
Introduction to Trauma & Community Resilience
We are all holding, carrying, and processing trauma, but we know that some populations are more likely to experience trauma exposure. BTCC's Trauma & Community Resilience training explores this tension, helps participants define trauma, and digs into trauma's potential impacts on our bodies, brains and health. Throughout the training, participants consider trauma through a sociocultural lens, and are challenged to consider how they might apply the training's information to their organizational and community contexts.
This train-the-trainer session is geared towards facilitators and trainers who are interested in bringing BTCC's Trauma & Community Resilience curriculum to their own organizations and communities. Our main goal is to prepare facilitators to present information effectively, engage deeply with participants, and lead activities that reinforce learning through a popular education model. Participants in the train-the-trainer session will dig into "trauma 101" curriculum and resources, explore facilitation tools and assessments, and build relationships with one another to be able to "co-train." While there are no hard expectations of participants (i.e. running x number of trainings per year), we encourage folks to join with some assessment of their excitement and capacity to connect with organizations and groups moving forward!
