Summer Youth Program Trainings & Events

Rookie Boot Camp

Rookie Boot Camp aims to prepare new counselors and employees for their roles in ensuring a safe, fun, and enriching experience for campers and others involved in summer activities. Topics include an introduction to camp culture, training within policies, child development, behavior management, activity planning, and team building with leadership development.

CPR Training

CPR is a vital skill that significantly impacts survival outcomes in cardiac emergencies. Immediate and effective application of CPR, along with the use of an AED, can save lives. Regular training ensures readiness to respond effectively in emergencies. This training will go through key steps and considerations for CPR such as scene safety and minimizing interruptions. All CPR Training will take place at Marion County Commission on Youth. As a reminder, there is an online course that must be completed before attending the in-person portion to complete your CPR certification.

Summer Learning Day

MCCOY will be hosting Summer Learning Day at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis on June 24, 2026. Organizations who are part of the 2026 Summer Youth Program Fund can bring their youth FREE to The Children’s Museum in our annual celebration acknowledging the critical role that summer programs play in the development of a child. Space is limited, so plan ahead! Note that we require one adult present for every five youth.

Excellence in Summer Service Awards

Keep an eye out this summer for nominations for our annual ESSA awards! Every year, MCCOY celebrates exceptional youth serving on Summer Youth Program Fund teams by awarding $1000 to 20+ high school/college youth who work or volunteer in a Summer Youth Program. We will launch this program and open the application process in June – look for information as we get closer!

  • Mid-August, date TBD (stay tuned for more details)
