About
Marion County’s juvenile justice system works across all of its organizations to provide support, services, and supervision to youth and their families during their involvement with the juvenile justice system. The Juvenile Advisory Council (JAC) is funded in large part by a generous grant from The Indianapolis Foundation and coordinated by leaders from Marion Superior Family Court, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative, Marion County Probation Department, Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Marion County Public Defender Agency, and the Office of Public Health and Safety and is organized by the Marion County Commission on Youth (MCCOY).
The goals of the JAC are to connect young adults with recent experience in the juvenile justice system with those leaders who can affect change and with young people at risk of entering or having recently entered the system. By learning from those with experience, we hope both the juvenile justice system can be improved for those involved and to support juveniles’ progress toward successful independence as adults. It is our goal to invest in the members of the JAC to support their success as productive members of our community.
