In 2012, UNCF released its inaugural K-12 related research, Done To Us, Not With Us: African American Parent Perceptions of K-12 Education which explored how low-income African American parents and caregivers view the K-12 education system and their role in supporting their children. Building off that work, UNCF and The Mind Trust have hosted community conversations series over the last five years to amplify the need to improve outcomes for African American students and shift the narrative of what is possible for all students.
Following the release of the third report in UNCF’s Perceptions Research Series, A Seat at the Table: African-American Youth’s Perceptions of K-12 Education, UNCF continues to amplify voices that are often overlooked in education discussions. The Mind Trust | UNCF Community Conversation “Student & Family Perspectives” on September 12, 2018, will serve as a discussion point for the exploration of the African American student and family perspective on various education reform efforts.
Join us on Wednesday, September 12 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm in the WFYI Community Room, 1630 N. Meridian Street.
Help spread the word, share this event on Facebook and Twitter.
