Mission – MCCOY’s mission is to champion the positive development of youth through leadership on key issues and support of the youth worker community.
Vision – MCCOY’s vision is that every young person in central Indiana has opportunities to thrive, learn, engage and contribute.
In December 1993, after several years as a division of city government, MCCOY Inc. was established as an independent, not-for-profit organization. Despite its previous struggles, the reorganization was planned to allow MCCOY to achieve its goal to be the facilitating, convening, and coordinating body for youth services in Marion County.
MCCOY Inc. organizes its work according to this mission and in pursuit of three identified outcomes that the community desires for its young people:
- Economic self-sufficiency
- Healthy family and social relationships
- Contributing membership in the larger community
Originally crafted in early 1999 through a community planning process coordinated by MCCOY and partially funded by the Lilly Endowment, these three outcomes have been used as a basis for program planning and funding decisions made by a wide variety of local organizations ever since.
MCCOY’s Board of Directors is made up of 30 volunteers, including youth members. Coming from a variety of backgrounds, races, ages, and skill levels, each of our board members bring a passion for youth and a desire to make our community a better place in which young people can grow up and develop well. In addition to their commitment of time and talent, each one of MCCOY’s Board Members also makes a financial investment in the work of the organization.
By remaining faithful to the role as an intermediary, MCCOY has been able to add value to the community by keeping the focus on developing the supports and opportunities needed for positive youth development.
